The Con Rit (Vietnamese for "millipede") is a large sea serpent described by natives of Vietnam as a gigantic centipede-like creature. It is found in the oceans off South East Asia.
Appearance[]
An eyewitness who reportedly found a beached Con Rit in 1883 described the creature is being 60 feet long and three feet wide. It had a dark brown dorsal side with a yellow underbelly, and it seemed to have regular armored segments akin to a centipede/millipede every two feet along its body.
Possible Explanations[]
There are several explanations as to what the creature could be. Theories include:
- An undiscovered species (a Cryptid)
- A giant centipede
- A giant polychaete worm
Trivia[]
- Cryptozoologist Bernard Heuvalmans once gave the Con Rit the scientific name of Cetioscolopendra aeliani (Aelian's cetacean centipede).
