The Eerie Silence Phenomenon is the name given to an acoustic phenomenon that manifests as dead silence in areas when such silence would be unusual, such as forests. The phenomenon is associated with all kinds of adjacent paranormal phenomena, including UFO's, cryptids, and Panic in the Woods. When experienced immediately prior to a paranormal experience it is known as 'The Oz factor', a term coined by ufologist Jenny Randles.

Description[]

The phenomenon manifests as a dead silence in areas that would normally be filled with noises made by frogs, birds, insects, or other animals, such as forests and swamps. The phenomenon is sometimes accompanied by strange magnetic anomalies that cause compasses to malfunction.

Possible Explanations[]

There are several explanations as to what the phenomenon could be. Theories include:

  • Psychic abilities (supposedly used by Sasquatch to remain hidden)
  • Extraterrestrial activity
  • Magnetic fields

Trivia[]

  • One theory states that the Eerie Silence Phenomenon is due to psychic sasquatches. Psychic abilities, utilized by the creatures in an area-of-effect shotgun-like blast, induce a state of dormancy in nearby animals, creating the silence.
