Notable Encounters
Edit
Many years back, my wife gave me a camera for Christmas. I took pictures everywhere, spending a lot of time photographing in Palmetto State Park near Austin.
One time, I had been out roaming around, and on my way back to my truck, I felt like someone was following me. I turned around; not a person in sight. I quickened my pace, but things only got worse. Soon I could hear footsteps behind me and off to the side. "Just make it back to the car," I kept telling myself, "and everything will be fine."
No one else was around, unfortunately. I was completely spooked and broke out into a full run. I tripped at one point and landed on my face, then rolled over, sat up, and looked back down the trail. I couldn't believe what I saw. Or more accurately, I couldn't believe what I didn't see.
I saw the tall grass off to the side of the trail getting flattened and parting, as if someone was pushing their way through it. But there was no one there. I jumped up and broke out into a full sprint until I was inside my car. I quickly took off, without even catching my breath, and felt something hit the car from behind as I sped off.
I thought for a long time that I had gone completely insane. But apparently, there are many stories of an invisible man who lives in this park. It made me feel better, even a bit proud. I am one of the few who has encountered it firsthand. I guess I don't need to tell you this, but I did not get a shot of it with my new camera. (account from Weird Texas)
