The Killer Cactus is a type of possible cryptobotanical creature often reported in the Southwestern United States, particularly Arizona. Much like the normal jumping cholla cactus, this variety easily latches onto clothing and flesh. However, many people who have encountered this creature claim that they were standing at least several feet away from any cactus when they were attacked.
Appearance[]
These creatures seem to come in two types. The most commonly-reported type is a typical jumping cholla cactus (Cylindropuntia fulgida) and the second is a saguaro (Carnegiea gigantea), though the latter isn't reported as often.
Possible Explanations[]
There are several explanations as to what the creature could be. Theories include:
- A species of mobile cactus
- Jumping cholla cactus
- Simple hysteria/misidentification
- Peyote hallucinations
Trivia[]
- The "Killer Cactus", despite its name, has yet to kill any humans.
