The Mud Mermaids were a pair of strange amphibious animals discovered in October of 1891 in Vevay, Indiana a town located on the Ohio River in Switzerland County.

The creatures were described as huge amphibious lizards with human features. They supposedly had human-like faces, but dog-like ears.[1]
