|Theories|| · Demonic presence|
The Swirling Basement Thing, alternatively known as the Black Swirling Thing in the Basement, was a disturbing phenomenon encountered by several people in the basement of an apartment building on 900 Scott Street in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
One witness known as Charlotte described her experience with the entity. While retrieving a basket of laundry, she was overcome by a swirling black cloud of pure darkness that attempted to envelop her body. The entity retreated back into the corners of the room after she screamed.
The "thing" was described as a swirling mass of pure shadows that is capable of moving on its own and enveloping nearby people.
There are several explanations as to what the phenomenon could be. Theories include:
- A demonic presence
- A ghost
- Tunnel vision
- The witness Charlotte is a professed atheist and states firmly that she does not believe in the supernatural, making her encounter all the more puzzling for her.
- After her encounter, Charlotte discovered that her apartment manager had also witnessed the shadow, as well as an upstairs tenant.
